Parisian - with sails pre 1899

Allan Line steamship built 1880 at Glasgow by Robert Napier and Sons. The Parisian was used for the conveyance of emigrants on their transatlantic voyage from 1881 till 1913, mainly from Liverpool to Canadian ports. When launched she was one of the largest vessels yet built. There was accommodation for 150 first-, 100 second-, and 1000 steerage passengers. Rebuilt in 1899, after that reported to have carried more then 2000 passengers. In 1912 she rescued passengers from the Titanic. On this picture she is shown as she appeared before she was refitted in 1899. The original is an old advertising card. For more ship history see: S/S Parisian
