Allan Line steamship built 1874 at Greenock by Robert Steele Co. The Sardinian was used for transatlantic conveyance of emigrants from 1875 till she was taken over by Canadian Pacific Line in 1917. She mainly sailed between Liverpool and Canadian ports via Londonderry. She had accommodation a large number of steerage passengers. On this image the ship is seen as she appeared after she was re-engined with triple-expansion engines and masts reduced to two in 1897. The image is from an old postcard.
