Allan Line steamship built 1891 at Glasgow by D. W. Henderson Ltd. The Numidian was used for the conveyance of emigrants on their transatlantic voyage from 1891 till 1914, mainly from Glasgow or Liverpool to Canadian ports, but also to Boston. She had accommodation for a large number of steerage passengers and on this image we can see hundreds of passengers crowded on deck as the steamer departed. This image is from an old postcard.
