Allan Line steamship built 1901 at Belfast, Ireland by Workman, Clark Co. Ltd. The Ionian was used for the conveyance of emigrants on their transatlantic voyage from 1901, mainly from Glasgow or Liverpool to Canadian ports, but also to Boston. She had accommodation for 131 passengers first class, 160 second class and 800 steerage. She served as a troopship in WW1. In 1917 she was taken over by Canadian Pacific Line.
