This steamship was built 1873 at Greenock by Caird & Co. for the Hamburg America Line (Hamburg - West Indies route). Purchased by C.G.T. (French Line) 1878 and renamed Saint Simon. The ship made some occasional voyages with emigrants and other passengers between Havre and New York for the French Line. It was mainly used for the West Indies service between Havre - Bordeaux - Colon. This image is from an old postcard.
