La Normandie - before the rebuilding in 1894

French Line steamship built 1882 at Barrow by Barrow Shipbuilding Co. This ship ran with emigrants and other passengers between Havre and New York for the C.G.T - Compagnie Générale Transatlantique (French Line). Originally fitted with 4 masts. On this picture she is seen departing Le Havre as she appeared before being rebuilt in 1894 when her masts were reduced to 2. This image is from an old photograph.
