La Champagne - post 1896

French Line steamship built 1885 at St. Nazaire. This ship ran with emigrants and other passengers between Havre and New York for the French Line (C.G.T.). This image shows the ship as she appeared after the rebuilding in 1896, when her masts were reduced to two. This image is from an old postcard. For more ship history see: S/S La Champagne
