Canadian Pacific Line steamship built 1913 at Stettin by AG Vulcan for the Hamburg America Line. Originally launched as the "Admiral von Tirpitz" for HAPAG, name changed to "Tirpitz" 1914. Handed over to Britain as war reparation after her completion in 1919. Used for troop repatriation duties under the management of the P&O. Acquired by the Canadian Pacific Line in 1921, rebuilt and renamed "Empress of China (2)". In 1922 the name was changed to "Empress of Australia". The ship was in Yokohoma during the 1923 earthquake.
