Lessing - pre 1882

Hamburg America Line steamship built 1874 at Glasgow by Alexander Stephen & Sons. On this photo the ship is shown as she appeared before she was rebuilt in 1882, when a second funnel was added. In 1888 she was sold to Messageries Maritimes, renamed "Nerthe". For more ship history please see: S/S Lessing.
