Gellert

Hamburg America Line steamship built 1874 at Glasgow by Alexander Stephen & Sons. This image was printed in an old booklet and shows the ship as originally built with one funnel. She was rebuilt with a second funnel and new engines in 1881. The Gellert was one of 7 sisters (Goethe, Schiller, Herder, Lessing, Wieland and Klopstock were the other sisters).
