The Westphalia was a steamship of the Hamburg America Line, built in 1868 at Greenock by Caird & Co. This image shows the ship at what appears to be Hamburg. Originally, the Westphalia was fitted with a single funnel, but it was rebuilt in 1878, during which a second funnel was added. This steamer primarily carried emigrants and other passengers between Hamburg and New York, making stops at various European ports along the way. This image is from an old photograph.
