Hamburg America Line steamship built 1899 at Stettin by AG Vulcan. This ship was launched for the Far East service, but lived a very changing life. In 1914 she was chartered by the International Red Cross for one round voyage New York - Rotterdam - New York and was renamed "Red Cross", then later the same year the name was changed back to "Hamburg" again. In 1917 she was seized by U.S.A. and became the US Government ship "Powhatan". In 1920 she was rebuilt and renamed "New Rochelle" as a charter for the Baltic S.S. Corp. of America. In 1921 she was renamed "Hudson" for U.S. Mail. In 1922 she was renamed "President Fillmore". Scrapped 1928 in U.S.A. This image is from an old postcard. For more ship history see: S/S Hamburg (1)
