White Star Line steamship built 1931 at Belfast by Harland & Wolff. The Georgic (2) was the sister of the Britannic (3) which was launched in 1929. The Georgic (2) was the last ship built for the White Star Line. The ship was originally built with two masts and two funnels. The forward funnel was a dummy and contained a radio room. In 1941 the ship was badly damaged when she was bombed and burned out in the Suez Canal. The ship was rebuilt 1943-44 and the dummy funnel and backward mast was removed. The image shows the ship as she appeared after the rebuilding was completed in 1944. The image is from an old photo postcard.
