Athenic - as a WW1 transport ship

White Star Line steamship built 1902 at Belfast, Ireland by Harland & Wolff. This ship was launched for the Shaw Savill & Albion - White Star joint service. In 1917 she was taken over under the liner requisition scheme and ran to NZ via Panama as a WW1 transport. The image is from an old photo postcard. For more ship history see: S/S Athenic
