White Star Line steamships built 1874 at Belfast by Harland & Wolff. The sisters Britannic (1) and Germanic became record breakers and were of the so called "Oceanic class". The steerage apartments were sufficiently large to accommodate about 1200 emigrants. This steerage plan shows the steerage berths numbered from 1 to 1076. Numbers 1 to 558 on the main deck, and numbers 559 to 1076 on the lower deck. It also shows the surgery and doctors compartment and hospitals.
